Format
The Biggles Cup is awarded to the winning team and is competed for in a Ryder Cup format.
The first days of competition featured foursomes and four-ball matches. Later, singles matches were introduced. The order is determined by the home team captain.
As with the Ryder Cup, if the matches end in a draw, the team holding The Biggles Cup retains it.
Recent History
In 2022, the Biggles Cup was held at the famed Pinehurst Resort. On day 1 of the competition, Team US took a commanding lead by winning 4 ½ to ½. However, on day 2, Team GB “launched a major comeback” in fourballs by winning 4 to 1. The singles matches were split 5 to 5, with the US retaining the Biggles Cup and Great Britain falling just short of an epic come from behind victory. Overall result Team US 10 1/2 Team UK 9 1/2.
In 2024, the Biggles Cup was help in the UK at Royal St Georges (foursomes and four-ball) and Denham (singles). With home soil advantage, Team GB managed to win the first day four-ball event 3 - 2, however, Team US won the foursomes by the same score leaving it poised at 5 - 5 going into the final day singles.
The titanic tussle continued during the final day until the final match on the course arrived at the final tee with their match all square and the overall match also all square 9 1/2 - 9 1/2. Team US managed to win the final hole and deliver another win for Team US by 10 1/2 to 9 1/2.
We await to see what 2026 will deliver...?
